Dr. Steven R Goldstein MD, an expert Gynecologist in NYC is a Certified Menopause Practitioner, Past President of the North American Menopause Society and Co-Directory of Bone Densitometry and Body Composition, NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr Goldstein has been in private practice for over 25 years and consults with patients going through Menopause.
During menopause, women may suffer bone loss. As a
Certified Menopause Practictioner and a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (bone
health professional), Dr Goldstein has this to say about menopausal women:
What patients should be concerned about is bone
health. Nationwide, if one suffers a hip fracture, the statistics show that 25%
of women will not live independently again and 30% of women will be dead within
a year (some short term from pulmonary embolism or pneumonia, others, long
term, simply failure to thrive). Admittedly, many of my patients who are in
better physical shape with less comorbidities (that’s “medicalese” for other
medical conditions) might not suffer such extreme numbers as those just quoted,
but a fall with hip fracture later in life can be much more debilitating and,
perhaps, even fatal.
As a leading Gynecologist in NYC, Dr
Goldstein consults with women
approaching or who are menopausal to address their bone health.
Dr Steven R. Goldstein MC is also the Director of
Gynecologic Ultrasound at NYU Langone Medical Center, Professor of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at New York University School of medicine, and a Past President
of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
